Cockney accent

My first encounter with different accent was during a trip with my friends to London.  I got lost and didnt know where I was. Needless to say my phone died and I couldnt use a GPS to navigate.  It took me about half an hour before I found a street with some shops and pubs where I tried to ask for directions. And well there goes the story, I didnt understand them at all, and when I asked them to slow it down or try it pronounce differently, they tried but it was no use, it ony made a bigger mess out of thing. During the third time I asked them for repeating the sentence they started being a little bit angry with me so I pretend that I catched what they said,left the place, and wandered around a little bit before I ran into a taxi and got out. Since then I try to learn at east basics of every english accent possible since you never know whats going to happen.  If it happened now I would probably understand what they were saying but back then, I thought they speak a completely different language. I dont know how to properly explain the intricacies of said accent so I just attach a video where a guy is explain the basics of the cockney accent
